Allegan County Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition
The Allegan County Elder Abuse Prevention Coalition was created in December of 2010 as a result of a grant obtained from the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. The purpose of this coalition is twofold:
- To educate and raise awareness throughout the County on the many faces of elder abuse
- To investigate and (if warranted) litigate suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect of vulnerable older adults
The coalition membership is comprised of professionals and private citizens of Allegan County who have an interest in protecting the county's senior population. Our membership includes staff from: Prosecutor's office, Sheriff Department, Adult Protective Services, Courts, the Department of Senior Services, Area Agency on Aging, home health agencies, churches, skilled nursing facilities; as well as concerned citizens acting as advocates for older adults.
If your organization is interested in hearing a presentation on elder abuse, please contact the Department of Senior Services at (269) 673-3333 or (877) 673-5333.
If you know of a vulnerable older adult who may be a potential victim of abuse or neglect, please help us help them.
