Biography for Patricia Pera

Patricia Pera was appointed to the original Commission on Aging. After submitting an application to the Board of Commissioners, she was reappointed to the reorganized COA. Patricia is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Nursing and received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of St Francis, Joliet, Illinois.
She has been interested in serving the community for many years. While living in Gary and Hobart, Indiana, she was an active member of the YWCA and served as their ad interim director and president of their Board of Directors. She also served as the Chairman of the Women's Division of United Way. She participated in enhancing the welfare of children in her community, while her five sons were growing up, by membership in parent-teacher organizations. She is now a Senior Citizen and has become very much aware of the needs of these citizens. She is hopeful that in some way she may be able to help to meet these needs by serving on the COA. This is very important to her.
Her activities in her community now include: Ten years as Parish Nurse at All Saints' Episcopal Church, Saugatuck; A board member of Allegan County Community Mental Health for the past fifteen years; Volunteer at Hospice of Holland and Evergreen Commons in Holland.
